We have registered 3 rooms at the Thomas Shop, in Powys for the solemnising of civic weddings. The most popular venue for weddings is the upper floor of the Meeting House. This Quaker like Meeting Room provides a distinctive setting for your special wedding day, in Powys. The room has gothic style windows, a feature of 19 th century buildings, in Powys, at both ends, and this lends a very particular atmosphere to the ceremony. The room can seat 40 people including those involved in the ceremony.
The ground floor of Meeting House has also been registered for weddings. This room is hardly second best with a beautiful arch at one end and the doorway leading unto the cobbled yard, another feature of Powys. This room has the added advantage for people who may find the stairs difficult or have a particular disability. This room will also seat about 40 people.
The third option is the Laundry which can seat comfortably 50 people. The Laundry is also accessible for people with a disability. The room lends itself to a variety of functions and can also be hired for receptions when we can open the Café, the Gents Outfitters and the Pressing Room. The room names are evocative of a time before Powys, and they celebrate the arrival of steam trains and the growth of the Victorian town, Llandrindod Wells.
One of Liz’s many careers was as a Constance Spry trained Florist, so we encourage couples, their families and friends to discuss with us how to make this special day, even more special. We can help you plan your wedding: the ceremony, flowers for the buildings, flowers for the bride and guests. If you want to hold the reception also at the Thomas Shop we can help with music, catering, the cake, more flowers, and to create the atmosphere you want. We can even provide accommodation for guests travelling to Powys.
Contact us to plan your wedding day, the ceremony, the reception, the flowers and the catering, in Powys, at this historic and distinctive venue. |
